Julie Pryke

An Oxford law graduate, Julie qualified as a solicitor in 1994, having trained with City firm, Penningtons.  On qualification Julie specialised in Family/Matrimonial law, working in Penningtons’ Newbury Office and also undertaking Mediation Training.

She relocated to East Anglia in 1996 to head up the Family Law department at Birketts Solicitors in Ipswich, where she worked for 5 years and became a partner.

Following the birth of her eldest daughter, Julie elected to take a career break. During this time, Julie has taken the opportunity to carry out a variety of roles within small, local charities She has found it both interesting and helpful to experience  first hand day-to-day workplace issues from the position of an employer, rather than just as a legal adviser. In 2010 Julie helped Oliver to establish Cambridge Employment Law, dealing with the administrative side of the new business. Julie has recommenced practice as a solicitor and partner with the creation of Cambridge Employment Law LLP in 2011.

As Julie retrains as an employment lawyer she also brings to the table all her previous years of experience in dealing with clients and case management skills so important to both individuals and organisations as they tackle employment issues. Her experience of dealing with small businesses outside the law also means that she has an acute understanding of the costs and time pressures that such organisations face.

Julie has a particular interest in helping small businesses, from initial start-up issues such as their contract documentation and handbooks through to practical day to day issues and employment tribunals.
