Who are we
Meet our team
We are a small team of dedicated employment specialists. All of our team have decades of experience advising employers and employees on all aspects of employment law. You can read more about the individual team members below.
Oliver Pryke
For many years Oliver has been recognised by the Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 directories as one of the top rated employment lawyers in the East of England. In recent editions he has been described by Chambers as being “renowned for his quietly authoritative yet hugely pragmatic approach” and the Legal 500 as “consistently excellent”.
An Oxford law graduate, Oliver trained in East Anglia and then spent 12 years at a leading Cambridge firm before establishing Cambridge Employment Law in 2010.
Oliver’s client base extends from some of the world’s leading technology companies, through to several professional services firms, education service providers and many other smaller businesses. In addition he has a thriving practice advising senior employees in relation to contractual issues and termination packages.
Oliver is also very well known for his training, delivering courses for organisations such as ACAS, the CBI and the Law Society.
Eleanor Freeman
Listed as a leader in her field in both the Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 directories, Eleanor has been described by clients as a “dazzlingly able lawyer” whose previous business career - as an International Rights Manager for global publisher Dorling Kindersley- enables her to give advice with a commercial edge.
Eleanor trained at City firm Stephenson Harwood and remained there after qualification for four years.
She moved to a leading Cambridge firm in 2005, becoming a partner there before joining Cambridge Employment Law LLP on its expansion at the beginning of 2011.
Her commercial background, City experience and subsequent practice in Cambridge mean Eleanor has a highly unusual combination of skills and experience on which to draw when advising clients.
From her time in Cambridge, Eleanor has a particular interest in the biomedical sector and start-ups, but she is equally comfortable advising larger organisations and individuals.
Eleanor has a joint honours degree from Bristol University in French and Spanish. She completed her legal studies at the London College of Law in 1998. She is also a qualified translator in both French and Spanish.
Julie Pryke
An Oxford law graduate, Julie qualified as a solicitor in 1994, having trained with City firm, Penningtons. On qualification Julie specialised in Family/Matrimonial law, working in Penningtons’ Newbury Office and also undertaking Mediation Training.
She relocated to East Anglia in 1996 to head up the Family Law department at Birketts Solicitors in Ipswich, where she worked for 5 years and became a partner.
On starting a family of her own, Julie initially decided to take a career break. However, during this time, she took the opportunity to carry out a variety of voluntary roles within some small, local charities and she found it both interesting and helpful to experience first hand day-to-day workplace issues from the position of an employer, rather than just as a legal advisor.
In 2010 Julie helped Oliver to establish Cambridge Employment Law and has been a partner in Cambridge Employment LLP since its creation in 2011.
Julie's current role within the business is to predominantly deal with accounts and administration matters.
